pyrokinese <heat source> - Produces a sphere of flame from a specific source.
pyrokinese <object> - will attempt to reduce an object to ash if the target is not capable of sustaining
                                    the pyrokinetic amplification process

Through the proper application of psionic energy a sufficiently skilled psionicist can use his or her mental power to amplify the natural heat in an area to produce much greater heat or outright flame. The intensity of the heat or flame produced by pyrokinetic amplification is wholly dependent on the psionicist's raw psychic power combined with the availability of a heat source or an otherwise sufficient quantity of ambient heat.

Once the heat source has been brought under control, it can be used in any number of ways. Most commonly, pyrokinesis has been wielded in battle as a means of directly attacking foes who might otherwise be resistant to more subtle forms of psionic attack, however, pyrokinetic flame can also provide a traditional source of light for companions who are not psionically adept or reduce some inanimate objects to ash. The most common form of pyrokinetic physical expression is the pyrokinetic sphere. Psionic flame tends to assume spherical form when not actively shaped by the wielder. Once formed, the sphere may simply be carried as a lightsource, or <throw>n at a target.

Attempts to ignite a living creature through the direct application of pyrokinetic force is rarely an efficient or even effective form of attack, however even the most stalwart and aggressive foes will often tend to find the process of being set ablaze to be at least marginally disconcerting and some creatures may find themselves (temporarily) blinded by the halo of psionic flame.

It is important to note that one may not use a heat source present on his or her person as the primary source, as the initial process of acceleration makes it very easy to set oneself on fire. Because of this risk, one may only use objects in his or her environment, although torches or lanterns may be dropped before being used.

Commentary

Can be used on some potions to share the effects of the potion with everyone in the room. Drop potion on the floor and 'pyrokinese <potion>' for effect. Does not work on cures and antidotes.
